You have to know that unless the person is willing to get help there is not much you can do. You could try intervention, but there is no guarantee that they will stay drug free. It is a battle that they will fight for the rest of their life.

You cannot force them into treatment. Take care of yourself, and get some counseling. You should be prepared for having to stop helping them until they are ready to stop.

Depends what drug. Many drugs are socially maintainable - Marijuana, Ectasy, Cocaine in which case you need to decide if he's managing it properly or slipping into a downward spiral. If he's doing serious drugs like heroin, crystal meth, crack etc. Then you should exile him until he's 100% clean.

Offer them help, but never demand it....... you have to wait until they are ready. An intervention is also a possibility, if all of the families members agree to sit down. Part of it though is that if they don't agree to the treatment, everybody agrees they are shut out of your lives forever.

Have an intervention lined up with family members and a professional interventionist. Set up possible ways for the person to get over the drug addiction.
