If you mean including Kindergarten, you're normally 12-13 during these years. Normally you're taught algerbra, earth science, and can choose an elective at this point.

In year 9 of public school, which is your freshman year in high school, you do biology, english, history, math (algebra 1, geometry, algebra 2, Pre-Calculus or Calculus), physical education, and 2 electives.

Year 9 is commonly referred to as Freshman Year of high school. Students entering Freshman year of high school are 13-14 years of age in the month of September. Introductory courses of Math, English, and Science are taken in school, including Algebra, Biology, and Writing. In many states, students also take Driver's Education in preparation of getting a driver's license.
