When you are incarcerated there is little you can do to counteract the withdrawal. Drinking plenty of water may help a little and exercising in your cell may be of some value as well. Unfortunately drug withdrawal can have dire consequences so it is best to tell someone.

They might be able to have a doctor prescribe methadone to you, but in some cases, you are just going to have to go without.

Generally speaking, you just have to suffer. If there is a medical issue, the jail will deal with it (for example, people with heroin withdrawals may need medication). However, they will not do anything to make you more comfortable or that goes beyond the medically essential.

When you are being booked they will ask you (they are supposed to) if you are going to be suffering withdrawals. If you tell them yes, they will move you to the Medical Ward and watch you. But basically you still have to suffer through it.
