What do you do about coworkers that spread rumors about you?

You should confront the coworker privately in a nonaggression with a non aggressive demeanor. Do not proceed to gossip about the coworker to other employees.

You need to just ignore them. If someone you care about comes up to you and asks if the rumors are true tell them that they're not. Just don't let it get to you.

Discuss this problem with your supervisor. Many work sites have no gossip policies, since gossip is both a waste of company time and corrodes employee morale. If the rumors are regarding a romance, decrease your time with the individual being implicated of a relationship with you. And document anything - such as emails forwarded by peers asking for confirmation.
