What do the rastafarian colors mean?

I know that red, green, yellow and black are associated with rasta, but I don't know why or what they mean...

Red represents the blood of the people and those who gave their lives up for the Rastas. Green stands for the plants and vegetation. Specifically of the land of Ethiopia, their homeland Yellow symbolizes the wealth and the sun of the homeland Black is for Africa and the black supremacy

The current Rastafarian colors are derived from the old Ethiopian flag. Red represents the blood of black people. Gold represents the minerals and resources that were stolen from black people in Africa. Green represents the land that was taken from black people in Africa. The old Rastafarian flag also had black in it, which represented the skin of black people.

These colours also symbolize Pan Africanism (red, black and green). The red stands for the blood that unites all people of African ancestry, black represents the colour of the skin of the people of Africa, and green stands for the rich land of Africa

the rastafarian colours symbolize rastas loyalty to Selassie. red -the blood of the black people who died in the struggle for liberation. gold-the wealth of their African homeland. green-Ethiopia's beautyand lush vegetation(the promise land). black-the colour of African people,from whom 98% of the Jamaicans are descended.
