Wood boring wasps infest dead timber. If sufficient numbers are present they will infest nearby buildings also. INfested areas can be identified by exit holes left from newly hatched wasps. Also birds can hear the larvae moving and will peack at siding if they do. They do not pose a threat to humans and should be left alone.

These wasps like to live in hardwood and you need to be careful when cutting down a tree for firewood or just clearing a property. You can spray insecticide to kill the wasps, but beware a single wasp can sting several times. Wasps hibernate in the winter which may be a better time to try to eliminate their nest.

They wreck havoc and are extremely difficult to get rid of. Even after treating the wood they can come back. Hire a reputable pest control company to help with extermination.

Wood Boring Wasps can cause a lot of damage to your home. They bore holes in unfinished wood to lay their eggs and return every year to the same spot. All you need to do to get rid of them is fill the holes with a wood filler and paint. Or finish any other way.
