What do I need to know about watering Boston ferns?

I am house-sitting and not sure how to care for all the ferns.

Boston fern should be watered regularly to keep the soil moist. You should use distilled water instead of tap water because chlorine and lime can harm the plant. Spraying is better than pouring. The pot may be placed in a basin of water so that the fern soakes up the moisture naturally.

Ferns are actually pretty basic the key is not overwater them the best thing for you to do is call the owner so you do not change their routine.

Boston Ferns are thirsty plants! I water mine twice daily in the summer months (I hang them outside - inside during the winter, I water once every two days).

Ferns love humid conditions and misting daily keeps them happy! Sitting the plant in water for about 10 minutes will allow it to soak up the water from the roots.
