You have to determine WHY she isn't paying them. Is she irresponsible or simply dishonest? Is she forgetful, plain selfish, or lazy? Could be mental illness or a gambling problem. You pay the bills and work on figuring out what her problem is. You may have to divorce, hope not.

If your spouse is refusing to help you pay bills, you really only have two choices. Either pay all of them yourself, or have a tough heart to heart with your spouse. It's not fair for one person to have all the responsibility for two. It causes undue stress. Just be direct and say pay up or get out!

First question is- what country are you in? If you are in the United States, you can go to a lawyer and either sue him, or change your bank accounts so that they are no longer joint.

You have to sit your wife down and have a candid discussion about the very real consequences of not paying your bills. You should have her FEEl these consequences, emotionally.

If your spouse won't pay the bills and is freeloading you should move on. Eventually you will be stuck with all the bills and they will get off Scott Free.

Sit down and talk to them. Explain how a relationship is about teamwork and you feel you're pulling the whole load.
