Make sure to keep the area extra clean. Clean it two times a day. Your body is adjusting to the new hole. Keeping the area clean will decrease inflammation. Sometimes, if the inflammation persists for more than one month, you may need to take out the piercing.

Depending on where this can become a medical emergency and require urgent care. Go back to your piercer to see if all has been done that can be done, and be ready to use disinfectants and antibiotics. Some people report good results with tee tree oil, others use triple antibiotic.
