The fuss is that these cells are unique in that they are not differentriated and have the ability to become any type of cell in the body. This is especially good for organs in which the cells do not continue to divide in adulthood, like the brain.

Stem cells can be used to regenerate cells in order to recreate organs and limbs. Stem cells that are taken from an embryo can be used to create cells that are ordered to create the above mentioned. Embryo stem cells are in the age where they do not have specific directions which is what makes it so beneficial.

Stem cells can differentiate into other cells. Eg, they can be used to replace diseased cells: the bone marrow of a leukemia sufferer. There are different sources of stem cells: the somatic stem cells found in everyone and embryonic cells found in embryos. The embryonic stem cells are taken from abortions but are much better at differentiating.

These human cells unlike any other human cell have the ability to become many different kinds of tissue. They can be used as an internal repair system to some tissue.
