What criteria or standards are used to determine the leading countries in today's world economy?

World economic leaders are those countries who have a high gross domestic product, high employment rates, favorable exchange rates and stable currency and financial markets.

The standards are the size of the economy (Gross Domestic Product) and per capita income. China is now the largest economy, but the U.S. and Japan have per-capita income.
