Your mouse may stutter for technical reasons, or your computer hangs for a while and so have problems. Perhaps you do too many activities at once, or the USB cable is badly connected. You need to check out some of these things, because there is never a single cause to freeze a computer mouse.

Mouse freezing may be due to few reasons like, you might have changed the mouse pointer sensitivity to low in the control panel. There is also a chance that your RAM might be very slow because of running heavy applications. And the last reason is that your mouse may be worn out.

Your mouse freezing up is most likely due to a damaged mouse. All computer parts break down eventually, and mice in particular due to their heavy use.

You may need to update the driver for your mouse. Make sure that you have the manufacturer and the model information on your mouse and go to the manufacturer's website. There will be information about downloading drivers for their products.

If you are using a mouse with a ball you could have lint stuck in it. Take it apart and clean it.
