Chronic aching in the hip could be caused by anything from a simple muscle tear or injury to the hip flexor to bursitis of the hip or multiple sclerosis.

Hip pain can be caused by several things, arthritis being the one that first came to mind. However, pain can also be caused by problems in the areas surrounding the hip. An injury in that area may cause swelling and pain to occur. Sometimes hip pain may also be caused by a spinal injury.

Hip aches can be a problem related to proper shoes. There is often a difference in leg lenghts by a fraction of an inch. A lift in the shoe of the affected leg can help. Arthritis can cause inflammation in any bone and extra weight are other possible culprits
