What could be wrong with my gl1200 Goldwing if it is missing and must be run with the choke open?

Well you should be running with the choke fully open otherwise you are restricting airflow into the engine. If you run with the choke on the more than likely you have some internal problem. The first thing I would do is pull the plugs out and check thing. They may be fouled or need to be gapped.

Your fuel line needs to be cleaned out. Take it to the shop, or do it yourself. Then you won't have to have the choke open all the time.

Have your carbs. serviced along with getting your valves checked. Miss firing engines can be tough to trouble shoot, but this is a good start.
