Your DVD player may need cleaning. Dust and particles could affect the reading laser from correctly identifying DVD discs. You may use a cleaning disc (a special CD or DVD that has cleaning brushes) to resolve this problem. If cleaning does not work, you may have to call a technician to look into it.

There are several possible causes. 1) You are playing a DVD whose region is not recognized by your DVD player's regional setting. 2)You are playing a region free DVD and your player does not recognize it as valid. 3)Your player's laser diode is weak or has become misaligned.

Maybe the Lazer is Dirty. Clean it. Or perhaps your software could be going corrupt, if it is old.

The reader on your dvd/cd player could be damaged. You could try blowing air inside the player to see if there is any dust needs to be removed.

The DVD video output such as the connector has problem. It can be first verified by checking if either of the AV or component line can have video output.

Your DVD player is defective and you should return it. If it;s older then it's time to get a new one. DVD players are so cheap nowadays you shouldn't have any problems getting a new one.

I had the same problem with my DVD recorder. If cleaning the player with a good dvd cleaner doesn't fix the problem, more than likely the laser is going bad and it would be time to get a new dvd player.
