What could be wrong with my computer if my monitor is flashing on and off?

There may be a few possible reasons for this. 1. Maybe connection to the monitor from your CPU and/or the power cord has a loose contact. Try to check this first. 2. You need to check if your monitor is being put to sleep by your system. In windows, to check this, go to "Power Settings" in control panel.

The problem might not be your computer. It might just be your monitor. The best way to check is to hook up your monitor to another machine. If it is still doing it, then you need to replace your monitor. If not, then it might be your graphics card died.

You should check to see if the monitor will work on another computer. If it dose not, it might be a bad main board or power inverter inside the monitor.

Your monitor is probably just about to got out pretty soon. If your monitor is about to go out then you will need to have it repaired or replaced with a new one.
