What could be wrong if I hear a hammering noise in my pipes?

When I run water in the kitchen I hear a hammering or popping noise in the walls.

This could be caused by a lose washer or by to much air in the piping system. Many piping systems will creat a banging or hammering noise due to air in the piping, a loose washer at a valve or loose or missing pipe strap. you will need to check all of these options.

This hammering noise is caused by air bounding in the pipes themselves. Install an air arrester (or air hammer) on nearest fixture, or water heater.
