Check/change radiator fluid. Change radiator cap with proper cap for your system. Some are 7 pound, 15 pound, etc. Check/chage thermostat and check all hoses for leaks/cracks/weakness and change.

Check your thermostat valve, it may need replacing. The thermostat bypasses the radiator to bring you engine up to operating temperature faster.

You need to add coolant to the radiator after you open the bleeder screw, then take out any air. You can also replace the heater core and fill the radiator with half water and half antifreeze. As long as the radiator is filled up with liquid, and not with air, your vehicle should not overheat.

First check the antifreeze in the radiator to see if you have the proper mixture of antifreeze to water ratio. If that's okay then check the level in the radiator overflow tank. Another possible cause may be a stuck thermostat, a plugged radiator, or even a worn out water pump.
