Lower abdominal pain could be caused by many things. Are you pregnant? It might be an ectopic pregnancy causing the pain. Otherwise, common causes might be irritable bowel syndrome or an ulcer. Also, diverticulitis could be to blame. This is a swelling of the lining of the bowel due to irritation from certain foods like nuts or popcorn.

This pain can be caused by a kidney stone in the left kidney. Of by an infection in the left side of the urinary bladder. If the pain is in a woman it could also be caused by an infection of the left fallopian tube or ovary.

The pain could have many sources, and if it continues to be bothersome you should check with your doctor to make sure it isn't too serious. You could've simply strained a muscle or had a cramp, or you could have something more serious like a hernia.

This type of abdominal pain can have a lot of causes. It can be a sign of a pelvic or bowel problem or a kidney infection(or stones). In women it can be a left ovary. Any abdominal pain can also be a sign of a heart problem.

Appendicitis pain can start on either side. A kidney or bladder infection can make this area hurt. You could have a rupture or if you are a female it could be an ovary disorder. If the pain gets worse or doesn't go away, make an appointment with your doctor to find out.
