Well, if you are living on the topmost floor, the roof is definitely causing the ceiling cracks to occur, due to it being either old or broken in some areas.

this is what could cause large ceiling cracks. water damage causes a lot of ceiling damage it will destroy you whole ceiling. another reason could be that your foundation for your roof is starting to go and your roof is caving in very slowly. or your house is setting and it is cause a lot of pressure
