Salivation is a natural occurence in almost all mammals. Some people as well as some animals are born to excessive salivation, and that is actually a good thing.

Excessive salivation can occur for several reasons. If an animal eats something that tastes bad, it will often salivate excessively for awhile. Animals also salivate excessively if they are nauseous or in pain. Dental disease can also contribute to excessive salivation. I would talk with your veteriarian if the salivation is an ongoing issue.
