Night time hip pain can be due to various neurological conditions like sciatica, spinal cord damage, disc prolapse etc, or systemic diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis of hip, spasm in the gluteal muscles, piriformis syndromes, inflammation of certain bursae in or around the hip, neuropathies etc.

Maybe cirulation. The small amount of ionizing radiation from TV, most computor monitors and such apparently cause thickening of the blood, thus decreasing ciculation for many people and causing pain. Especially if you sleep on the joint in question. I drink a bottle of water between TV and bed, to thin my plasma. Or just keep the TV off 24hrs.

Most probably, you have been sitting on the chair a lot during the daytime and you do not exercise much.Or you are suffering from sciatica.
