What could be causing my dish disposal to not work?

Your dish disposal could not be working for a variety of reasons. Often the motor burns out or electrical hook up malfunctions. If this is the case, but to call the professional. If you are hearing some noise but it is just sluggish, try cleaning it.

It may be clogged or check the plug underneth the sink to make sure it's plugged in. If this does not solve the problem there is a reset button on most disposals. Try pushing it in to see if that helps.

Frequently it appears like a disposal is broke but it is actually just jammed. Use a hex tool to turn the disposal. This will help break the jam.
