Many colors go with gold! You could use a warmer tone, such as terra cotta, or a cooler tone to offset it, such as aqua. I would avoid yellows.

Any color paired with gold must be striking. Red gives a rich, Imperial China feel. White and gold is a classic combination from the 1970s. Deep green matches gold well.

Well, white goes with everything, though it may be a little bland. However, beige gives it that clean look. Though, a darker color wouldn't hurt so long as it's not a small room, after all dark colors make the room feel smaller. Hope that helps.

You can never go wrong with white walls. I also think that you could go with a cream color for them. You could probably also go with a soft pink or even peach. Maybe even a soft yellow color for the walls. Be careful with going to dark for the yellow or it will look weird.
