White stripes under one's fingernails is caused by a calcium deficiency, which means you are not getting enough calcium. Calcium is found in dairy products, such as milk, cheese, and yogurt. Try eating more of these foods, and if you do not care for said foods, I recommend taking a daily supplement which can be found at your drugstore.

Leukonychia is generally an indication of an injury to the nail or a lack of vitamins or minerals, usually zinc or calcium. They should grow out eventually.

Usually white stripes develop under your nails because your body isn't getting enough calcium, but there could be other reasons so it's best you check with a doctor.
