Bleeding for a few days is normal for a female dog in heat. Vaginal discharge after the dog gives birth is normal. Discharges of various colors and textures can mean urinary or reproductive system problems. Cancer can cause a discharge of blood or mucous.

Female dogs have periods just like humans. They are not as bad as humans, but they do cause some vaginal discharge. It is a sign of wanting to breed.

You need to ask your vet what is causing it, the vet will know what is best to get your dog better. The vet may have to put it on meds.
