Thinning can be seasonal, particularly if your house is warm and dry- however, this is usually an indication of a nutritional or hormonal problem- I would consult the vet. This could be an allergy, a parasite or mite, or even Cushing's disease, I would have him evaluated- chances are it is a situational problem and easily taken care of.

This could be caused by an insufficient amount of protein in your Yorkie's diet. Try switching to a better brand of food and their coat should improve. Also, limit the amount of "people" food they get.

If your Dog's hair is drastically getting thinner and is falling out in large chunks you should bring her to the Vet. Fleas can cause your dog to loose a lot of hair. Different types of allergies can also cause your dog to loose a lot of hair and make your dog's skin a bit flaky.

It might be due to the Yorkie having a skin rash, or even flea bites. It itches so they scratch it hard enough to damage their hair.

It could be any multitude of things. Think about if anything has changed in her life lately, her food, schedule, a move, etc.

Many things can cause a dog to lose hair, it is called Alopecia. You should go to your local vet to learn the cause, it can be life threatening.
