Over exposure to the sun can cause a darkening of the skin. Most people use bleaches made specifically for this purpose to fade the darker color out. However, there is also a condition called sun spots that are actually caused by a fungus and if this is the case, you will need to see a dermatologist for help.

Sun spots are the result of excessive exposure of skin to the sun. Sun spots have a freckle like appearance and can be a permanent result of extensive sun burning.

A fungus called tinea versicolor can cause sunspots, but the most common sunspots are caused by simple overexposure to the sun. Use of a good sunblock can help.
