Ringworm is one of a group of fungal infections of the skin. The group is tinea, and includes things like jock itch and athlete's foot. Ringworm can spread in areas of the body, and be passed to other people. It is easy to treat, but requires a prescription fungicide, which might be an oral medication or a topical cream.
