Bumps may be caused by irritation from friction especially from shaving. Bumps on the ankle may also be the start of a swelling process around the ankle which is often a physical sign of pregnancy. Bumps may be caused by any sort of insect bite as well and if it is painful or seems to get worse, see a doctor.

If they are itchy, there could be several causes. First, mentally trace your movements over the past days and list any areas of vegetation that you might have walked through. You might have an allergy. The other possibilities are flea, tick, chigger or bed bug bites. There are helpful creams for these conditions.

Bumps on the ankles can be caused by a variety of things. Leather ankle boots, change in laundry detergent, poison ivy and other similar allergic reaction to plants. Calamine lotion or benadryl, (topical) may be able to help. If the bumps look pus filled or look otherwise infected, see your doctor.
