Variations in hormonal levels could cause your period to come early. These variations could be caused by any number of factors, including a lack of sleep, too much (or too little) exercise, or an irregular use of hormonal contraceptive devices (birth control pills or patches, for example). When women begin transitioning into menopause, periods can arrive earlier than expected, also.

There are several causes of early periods. A most common cause is stress. As you know, stress can affect your body in many ways. Too much caffeine can make it come early. Your choice of birth control can affect your periods by making them late or early. A serious condition caused by the pituitary gland may also cause this.
