Bad posture is responsible for causing humps, most of the time. So, always remember to keep your spine straight and maintain a healthy posture.

Osteoporosis can cause spine collapse resulting in what is sometimes called "dowager's hump". It is a bone disease that can be diagnosed with a bone density test. Most people who suffer from osteoporosis are women, especially post-menopausal women. Bone loss and density can be slowed with prescribed medication, calcium supplements and Vitamin D.
