Platies do best in freshwater 20 gallon tanks or larger. Add gravel, filter-floss, plants and decorations. Feed a staple flakefood twice a day, also shrimp pellets and algae wafers.
The diet needs to include lots of algae and other vegetation. As a treat feed them blood worms, tubifex and brine shrimp (frozen or live). The ph balance of the water in the tank needs to be between 7. 0 and 8. 3. The ideal water temperature for these fish is between 59 and 77 degrees Fahrenheit.
