Taking Synthroid can increase your blood sugar, so if you are a diabetic you will need to monitor your blood sugars closely if you take this medication. If you find your blood sugar levels are running high, then you will need to contact your physician. Always make sure that your physician(s) are aware of all the medications you are taking.

Synthroid is used to help with low levels of thyroid hormones. Diabetes treatment is however affected by hypothyroidism (the main cause for needing Synthroid) but it's usually temporary because of the loss of energy and weight gain from a low metabolism due to the inactive thyroid. Once on Synthroid the diabetes treatments usually go back to normal.

Synthroid is a hormone replacement for patients with hypothyroidism, and this links to diabetes because both can cause weight gain and metabolic problems and can lead one to the other.

Synthroid is synthetic hormone, thyroxine, taken when the thyroid is not producing it. It shouldn't be taken in conjunction with diabetes unless you check with your doctor.
