There are annular fibers which are concentric ring like things surrounding the nucleus of the discs in the spine. When there is a tear in the ring, herniation of the nucleus pulposes through the rings causes focal protrusion, the disk bulges outward beyond the the vertical margin, causing disc herniation.

Paracentral disc herniation is a result of an accident, fall or any traumatic event. The condition is specifically painful because the nerve root is being squeezed by a cushy foam-like discs between the backbones. The treatment may include taking of pain killers, anti-inflammatory drugs and muscle relaxants. But in severe cases it may require surgery.

In paracentral disc herniation, a tear in the outer ring of a spinal disc rips, allowing the soft center of the disc to slip out. This condition can cause serious pain and be physically debilitating.

This is when one of your discs located between two of your back bones is pushed out of its position and touches a spinal nerve. This happens as a result of repeated sprains or injuries to the same spot, or even a traumatic event. Im most cases this is very painful.
