Pick a scanner that has a range in the 450Mhz to the 470Mhz area. A few drivers are in the 850Mhz area. You'll want a minimum of 100 channels. You can get the drivers channel frequency off the internet. Be sure to get a battery powered unit, Bring along extra cells and tight headphones.

NASCAR scanners, which look like headphones, allow spectators to hear the two way communication between the driver, crew chief and spotter. The driver may give a brief description of how the car is handling or if anything needs to be corrected.

Before Purchasing a scanner to use at the NASCAR you must first determine if it is for personal use or for a group of friends to listen to, next you must ensure it has sufficient battery life for the event and lastly you need to check it can pick up the signal of your favourite NASCAR.

NASCAR scanners are basically radios that are set to a different range of frequencies that are outside of the range of normal AM and FM radios.

I would assume that the a similar to a hand held radio scanner. That can scan a certain range of frequencies set by it's user. It probably is the same just brand to make people think it is different.
