Keep a spare in your wallet. Sometimes remotes can be activated if extra key is at home by using your cell phone. Have person at home press the unlock button and hold your cell phone near the door. This may not work with all cars but some later models might.

You can call AAA for service. They have the ability to safely open your car for you. You just have to show proof of ownership and membership to the company. I think some insurance companies and autoshops can help.
