One way to treat sore skin spots, either heat sores or obsessive licking sores is to trim away what hair is left at the site of irritation and apply a triple antibiotic ointment that contains some pain reliever. Then stay with the dog and gently verbally discourage further licking and nudge the muzzle away.

Take your dog to a vet to see what's causing the sore spots. Once you figure out what it is you can try to treat that. If your dogs has sores you can try various creams and ointments.

First you need to know what the sores are from. If they are "hot spots" they sell creams you can apply to ease the discomfort. Aguaphor also helps heal sores.
