You can keep the stick in between distance of your garden.Better you can keep the man like doll. They thought one man is standing there. So they won't come there.otherwise you can keep the stick with cloth. That is also another method using in the garden. These two methods are very helpful.

The net spread over the garden will help you.The cost of doing this may be high.Another method followed in eastern countries is keeping scarecrow in the middle of the garden,in a couple of places may have a good effect.Scaring them with crackers is also helpful.

If it is vegetables that you're having a problem with, it probably is not birds. Birds only eat fruit like strawberries and so on.

Use old CD's and hang them in the trees or close by your veggie garden. The reflection of the sun on them will keep birds and cats away from your veggie garden.
