What side of the foot? If it's a bunion that you need to see a foot doctor. If its the outside of the foot, maybe your shoes are too tight in that area. Don't wear cheap shoes they cause many problems. Get fitted properly.

Sometimes excessive use or strain to the tendons and joints can cause cysts. These cysts are not dangerous to you but they can be painful. Normally, these cysts fill up with fluid and become hard. Ice and shoes that do not annoy the cyst should work for a few days.

Wear comfortable sensible shoes made with flexible material, for example lycra. Try soaking your foot in warm (not hot) water, with epsom salts. Contact a foot specialist.

You should try wearing different shoes. If this does not work, try an insert. First the kind you get at the drugstore. Then a prescription type.
