A doctor's diagnosis is the first step, so you know what kind of arthritis or other problem you are dealing with. Physical therapy and exercise programs can often reduce pain, but must be maintained. Medications reduce the pain you feel, and may increase mobility. Walking or other exercise programs sometimes help. Doctors sometimes recommend surgery for severe pain.

You can use a supportive pillow when sitting to help ease any discomforts that may arise. Also, icy hot rub helps.

A warm bath or hot pack can help relieve the pain. Your physician may be able to give you something to reduce inflammation as well.
