What can I do about temper tantrums in one year olds?

The tantrums are pretty bad and I fear they will get worse.

When you say no, stick to it. Remove the item or them from the room of what they want. Once they learns that a tantrum does not get them what they want, they will not do it as much. Also teach the child to console themselves with a stuffed animal instead of you, so you're not tempted to give in.

Temper tantrums are normal for one year olds, it's their way of expressing their feelings, especially if they havent acquired the ability to talk and communicate yet.

Figure out the things that set off a tantrum. If the child has a tantrum related to not being able to communicate clearly, teach him words or signs for what he wants. Also look at how you respond to the tantrums. Parents sometimes accidentally reward kids for tantrums.

The most important thing to remember is to teach your child that tantrums are not acceptable behavior to get what he or she wants. Do not give in when this happens. Remove your child from the room until he or she calms down.
