Question by  sajanjiv (85)

What can I do about shriveling orchid leaves?

The leaves seem to shrivel all at the same time. Are the plants dying?

Most likely it is due to lack of water which is easily fixed by watering your plant. But if that doesn't seem to be the problem then check the room temperature where your plant resides. If it's in your house it is probably okay but in a greenhouse where temps can go over 90 degrees be ready to move it.

It sounds like the plants may not be getting enough water, or it is also possible that there is too much water in the soil all the time. Allow your plant to become dry for a couple of days between thorough waterings.

This condition can be caused from the plant being planted too high in the container. Repot the plant, making sure the lowest leaf is closer to potting soil by at least an inch. Lack of adequate water causes leaves to shrivel. Make certain the plant gets "rest" from constant light or lack of lighting.

Could be not enough water. Or if it's one plant that has spawned babies, it could be lack of nutrients or root bound. Or too much sun.

I could be from a couple different things they may be getting to much heat and sun or they may not be getting enough water or. They may have certain times they go dormant and they go back to the root so the plant can rejuvinate its self. Or they may have a fungus that you aren't seeing.

Well, yes shrivel in plants indicates that its time for the plant to go. I recommend spraying them vinegar and using a horticultural spray, because this may revive them somehow.

I think I'll repot it and spray vinegar. I do hope it will help. Thank you for all the suggestions, it's a great help.
