Puppy play groups. Also, discourage the behavior the first time and every time. Walk away and ignore your puppy if it bites you. It will learn not to.

I would recommend researching good trainers and enroll your puppy into an obedience class. You should socialize your puppy with other people and dogs. It is also important that you immediately acknowledge bad behavior. Having your puppy lie down and become calm each time is one possible way to discourage it from biting again.

A puppy that has a habit of biting should be told in a firm voice the word no, then they should have an area that is used for time out.

First of all, the puppy needs to know that biting is bad. It needs to learn this at an early age. The only way to do this is to punish it. Do not be severe in punishments, but make the puppy know that it is doing something wrong. That should work.

If your puppy is chewing on furniture you can try bitter apple spray. If your puppy is biting your hands, scold him or her each time he or she bites you and then ignore him or her for a moment afterward. Continual attention is seen by a dog as a reward.

The best way to approach puppy biting is with positive redirection. When your puppy starts biting, give him a toy and encourage him to continue playing with it. Having a toy in hand is always helpful. If the puppy continues to bite, you need to stop playing and walk away. He needs to know it is unacceptable behavior.

When the puppy bites, make a high pitched yipping sound like another dog would. It teaches the dog that biting is painful. Then ignore the dog for a few minutes to enforce the "this is bad" attitude.

How hard is the puppy biting? Little puppies love to do things called love nips, they bite or chew on your hand gently while they are teething. If the puppy is biting a little hard, you can bop him gently on the nose with your finger and say "No. ".

Make sure your puppy has lots of toys that it can chew on because it's probably teething. If the puppy doesn't stop biting it would be a good idea to gently but firmly pinch the inside of its mouth to discourage any further biting.
