What can I do about a charlie horse in my calf?

You can pull your foot towards you, stretching your muscles. You can massage your calf, drink more more water or milk, and beleive it or not, it helps to yell really loud.

Walk on it! That's one of the best ways to work the muscle so it straightens out. Don't so it so much that it hurts desperately, rest afterwards.

For a charlie horse in you leg, you can ususally rub them out. To prevent them, I would recomend drinking gatorade, powerade, some type of sports drink. If you can get some potassium, that would help immensley. I have noticed that too much partying and not enough water or other hydrating liquids usually causes them.

Massaging the muscle and using heat and/or a rub or cream such as Ben Gay can help to relax the muscle. Increased potassium intake can help prevent future occurences.
