Most cuts and/or flesh wounds are easily remedied with a triple antibiotic ointment. Being that some wounds are in sensitive areas that get touched or used often, you will need to reapply the ointment often. Be sure to clean the wound well before each application of ointment.

Treat it as you would your own. Depending on the extent of the injury, simple washing and rinsing with soap and water may be the best solution, letting you examine it and leaving the dog then to care for the wound itself. If serious, go to your vet.
