Surgery can be done. Excision of the disc and fuse the c6 and c7 vertebra by metal plates and screws under general anesthesia.

Central disc protrusion between C6 and C7 can give pressure symptoms on spinal cord. It may be tingling, numbness of the lower half of the body and even cause paraplegia. Cervical traction and wearing cervical collar can prevent damage to the spinal cord.
