What are the treatments for the pancreas malfunction?

To treat the endocrine malfunction insulin is used. To treat the exocine function there are a variety of pancreatic enzyme preparations available by prescription.

It depends on the malfuntion. If you are no longer making insulin, you may be diagnosed as a diabetic and will need to take insulin to control your blood sugar. If you are not making enough amylase and lypase (digestive enzymes), you will need to take pill forms of these enzymes with meals.

The treatments will include enzymes replacement since pancreas is an organs which produces many enzymes to breakdown food. Others will include low fat meals. Also you will be given some nutritional advice.

To treat the defeciency in isulin, you use insulin injections. For the digestive part, you can take pancreatic enzyme pills.

The pancreas has two main roles. First it is involved in sugar metabolism. If it is malfunctioning you get hyperglycemic and thus will require insulin. The other function is one of producing digestive enzymes. You can take oral pills to supplement these enzymes. Discuss with your doctor what is right for you.
