There is no simple answer to this question because it depends on where the aneurysm is located. It also depends on whether it has ruptured or is possibly affecting other parts of the body. Often an aneurysm does not cause symptoms until it ruptures. If symptoms are present, they can iclude deep, steady, gnawing pain.

Symptoms will depend upon the location of the aneurysm. Symptoms include a pulsing sensation, difficulty in swallowing, coughing or hoarseness. A ruptured aneurysm usually produces sudden and severe pain, and depending on the location and amount of bleeding, shock, loss of consciousness and death. The aneurysm may leak blood, causing pain without the rapid deterioration characteristic of a rupture

Some aneurysms are symptomless and are discovered only because a test is being done for some other condition. Brain aneurysms, depending on their location, can cause dizziness, headache, and blurred vision. Abdominal or aortic aneurysms may present as an unusual bulge in the abdominal area. These can also produce abdominal or back pain.

Symptoms depend on the location of the aneurysm. It's the localized dilation of the wall of a blood vessel, so it's potentially life-threatening.
