What are the small brown beetles in my cereal?

Most likely they are Sawtoothed Grain Beetle, which are attracted to flour, other grains, nuts, seeds, dried fruit and cereals! They multiply very fast and are capable of penetrating packaged foodstuff, so you should get rid of these critters as soon as possible!

My family calls them "mealy bugs". They can spread to other products on the shelf through torn packaging. I'd throw out the box (although my brother would eat the cereal! )
